4 Ways To Add Color To Cards | Altenew Blog Hop + Giveaways

January 27, 2017

Hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog on the hop! Today I am very excited to share with you some cards using the awesome and creative new release from Altenew that I instantly fell in love with. đŸ™‚ The cards that I am going to share are packed with a ton of different techniques and lot of colors!!!

COLORED CACTUS CARD

For the first card, I used the Be Strong stamp set to create a fun scene with lots of color and succulents! I stamped down all of my images and colored them in using very bright shades of Copic Sketch Markers. I love coloring succulents because they are all different and it’s fun to come up with unique color varieties.

Then, I stamped down a background using the string lights and varied the angle they went to create an uneven effect. I colored them in using shades of yellow and then filled the in with a coat of Glossy Accents to make them look like light bulbs. To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment and added everything together on a white top folding card base.

WATERCOLOR STAMPED HIBISCUS CARD

I love Altenew’s layering images and when I saw this Hibiscus Bouquet stamp set I just about fainted and knew that I MUST watercolor stamp them! I started by stamping all of the outline images in black and laid out my scene of flowers. Then, I took the solid layering images and watered down Altenew inks to stamp using a watercolor effect. After that, I used my water brush to soften out the edges and give it more of a watercolor look.

Next, I used my water brush to soften out the edges and give it more of a realistic watercolor look. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the Halftone Circles stamp set and added a strip of black cardstock and then added it all onto a white top folding card base.

Blooming Rose Card

For the third card, I used the Amazing You stamp set to create a rose blossoming phase card that is a fun shape and super easy to create! I started off by stamping the line of roses using my MISTI to make sure everything is lined up perfectly on the card panel. Then, I colored everything in using a variety of red Copic Sketch Markers and gave the roses a blue halo.

To embellish the roses, I added some Colorless Blender dots and lots of Glossy Accents to give some shine (if you haven’t noticed, I go a little overboard on the Glossy Accents)! Finally, I stamped and encouraging sentiment and added it onto a long black rectangular card base.

Colorful Ombre Stamped Card

I love this last card and all of the time you can save with the solid images that you can stamp over the lined flower images. So, I started off by lining up all of the solid stamps from the Life Is Beautiful stamp set in my MISTI on top of a card panel. Then, I used a variety of colorful inks to ink up the stamps on at a time and stamp it down. Then, you can stamp it over and over using a bunch of colors to get a nice blended background (technique is better explained in the video :))!

Next, I lined up all of the line stamps and stamped them over top of the colorful images in black ink. Finally, I stamped down a sentiment from the Halftone Circles stamp set and adhered everything together onto a top folding white card base!

I love the (Remember This) Die and Stamp Set. I have the Peony, Majestic Blooms and the Persian. I love the stamps but I have to wait and buy a set only once a month (budget, budget, budget)! But so excited I can buy a set for February!! Next one in March. Hope they will not be sold out.

I’m a bit late to the hop…but I’m certainly glad I got to see your cards! Simon I would have not thought to use some of the stamps in the way you have! They are just amazing! I especially like that rose card. Thank-you for the inspiration!
