Testing Nuvo Watercolor Pencils On Different Papers

March 26, 2018

Hi Friends! In today’s video, I tested how the Nuvo watercolor pencils work on different types of paper. I tried the pencils on watercolor, kraft, and black cardstock to see how strong the pigment is.

For all of the cards, I heat embossed all of my images before coloring. This ensures that the lines will stay super crisp and won’t get covered up by pigments.

On the watercolor cardstock, the colors are vibrant and easy to blend out. I even used the Aquaflow Shimmer Brush to blend out some color and with some added shimmer.

I used the Color Layering Swallowtail stamp set to create a fun scene and heat embossed it with jet black embossing powder. To finish off the card, I cut the cardstock down and added it to a card base with a strip of glitter paper for some embellishment.

On the kraft cardstock, right away the colors look dull because of the water. However, when the cardstock dries… the pigment returns to it’s nice bold color.

I stamped a springtime scene using the Color Layering Rabbit stamp set and heat embossed the images with hot chocolate embossing powder.

On the black cardstock, the pigment sort of fades with water. However, like the kraft cardstock… once it’s dry the pigment returns with a bright chalk-like consistency. I love how the colors look on black cardstock!

I repeatedly stamped the Flowering Magnolia stamp to create the background and heat embossed the images using gold enchantment embossing powder. Then, I added the colored piece onto a card base and finished it off with a handwritten sentiment! 🙂

Great video, love that you compared the different card stocks. My favorite is definitely the one on black, but then again, I’m a sucker for florals. Thanks for another great video and for sharing all this info and inspiration with us.
