Coloring With Inktense Pencils + Tombow Blender Pen

Hi there! Today I will be showing you how to create two cards with textured backgrounds. I am using the Poppin’ Over stamp set to create these fun cards.
I was inspired to create clean and simple cards with fun ink blending. I haven’t done ink blending in a while, so I thought I would try it again today!
I started out with two tall card panels and scored them at every half inch, both vertically and horizontally. The teflon bone folder will give you a great crease and will leave no shiny marks on your card stock.
Then, I did some simple ink blending on both panels with blue and green dye ink.
To color the critters, I used the Dove Blender Pen and some Inktense pencils. I have to be honest, I disliked this blender pen until I learned how to use it correctly. These critters were very simple to color I used one to two colors on each one.
I embossed my sentiments on black card stock using white embossing powder. I mounted the sentiments and critters onto the center of my cards using foam tape.
Finally, I added some white dots around the sentiment using a white gel pen and some enamel shapes to match the colors of the cards.
Enjoy the video!

Simon,
I always lay down my Inktense pencil on the paper and then use the Dove blender pen to pull it out, I haven’t had pilling, so maybe you could try that instead of grabbing from the pencil tip? Also, I haven’t ever had my blender pen tip fray, but again I don’t grab from the tip or directly from the ink pad. Just a suggestion for you. . . Love your cards, you created a lovely and simple background for those adorable stamps, and I like how you brought attention. With the gel pen and enamel dots! Thanks for sharing.
These two cards are just charming. Love the background and the little details, i.e., the white and enamel dots. Had issues with the Dove pen myself…found it just took a bit of practice to achieve decent results.
Very nicely done. Thank you for sharing your creativity. You are an inspiration to card makers!
Fabulous cards Simon! Super fun and adorable! I’ve never tried these pencils or the blender but I love how your coloring turned out! I might just have to give them a whirl 😉
I have the Inktense pencils, but have not tried them with a blending pen. I probably would apply them to the paper first and then blend them out, as was suggested above. However, I think both of your cards are really cute and look as though they were perfectly colored.
Another great job, Simon. Your cards are simple and cute. Loved the idea of scoring a grid for the background.
Beautiful cards!! Your coloring is perfect!! Thanks for sharing the video.
