Happy Monday! Today I wanted to create an interactive card that has three different colors of metallic liquid sitting behind die cut windows. I have dreaded trying this, but after three tries it finally (sort of) works!
For the card overlay, I cut the word “Noel” three times using the Holy Night dies from Concord & 9th. For the potion, use metallic Perfect Pearls and water to create a shiny and colorful mixture for three bags (add different colors for each bag).
1st attempt: I tried using plastic stamp storage pockets and taping off the edges with Frogtape. This didn’t work because the seal wasn’t tight enough and the water went everywhere! If you want to try this method you could heat seal the edges, that way they would be tighter.
2nd attempt: I tried the same thing, but using duct tape on the edges to seal it off. Turns out duct tape doesn’t fix everything because this one spilled faster!
3rd attempt: This time I used plastic bags and it worked great. Be sure to tape off the seal or heat seal it so that it doesn’t spill (mine did).
Next, attach all of the bags to the back of the die cut windows and your almost done! Just add some layers of foam tape for some support and put it all on a card base.
This card is so fun to shake around and push the liquids around in the bags. I don’t make interactive cards often, but this was a fun change and something unique to make someone’s day better! Enjoy the video!
